Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

ingredients

• 1 cup butter
• 1 1/4 cups packed brown sugar
• 1/4 cup granulated sugar
• 2 tsp vanilla extract
• 2 eggs
• 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
• 1 tsp salt
• 1 tsp cornstarch
• 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips (other mix-ins can be added — M&Ms, pretzels, etc.)

the making of it

1. Brown 1 cup of butter on low to medium heat. Remove from heat when the top is foamy and butter is an amber color. Set aside to cool.
2. In a bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt and cornstarch and whisk.
3. In a separate mixing bowl, mix brown sugar, granulated sugar, and the browned butter. Whisk until smooth.
4. Add eggs and vanilla into the sugar/butter mixture. Whisk until smooth.
5. Add the dry ingredient mixture into the wet ingredient mixture little bits at a time, while folding them together.
6. Fold in the chocolate chips (or other mix-ins — can add more depending on preference). Chill the dough for about 1 hour.
7. Preheat oven to 350°F. Scoop out dough balls onto a parchment lined baking sheet. Bake cookies for 10-15 minutes, keeping an eye on them. The edges should be golden brown, but the top of the cookies should still look slightly wet.
8. After taking the cookies out of the oven, reshape if needed and top with more chocolate chips (or other mix-ins) and sea salt.
